The Role of Metal Crusher in Waste Bicycle Recycling Plant

Aug 05, 2026

In waste bicycle recycling plants, discarded bicycles have complex structures and mixed materials, including iron frames, aluminum wheels, copper wire, plastic and rubber parts, etc. Simply relying on manual dismantling or single-equipment processing cannot achieve efficient purification and recycling. Modern production lines employ a four-stage linkage mode of metal shredders, metal crushers, magnetic separators, and eddy current separators. Among them, the metal crusher, as the core fine crushing equipment, plays a crucial role in connecting the upstream and downstream processes. It is the core equipment for ensuring the purity of metals in waste bicycles and improving the sorting effect, directly determining the recycling quality and capacity of the entire production line.

The waste bicycle recycling line adopts a "shredding first, crushing later" graded processing mode, with the scrap bicycle shredder responsible for the initial coarse processing stage. Complete waste bicycles are large and structurally robust, with frame tubing and metal supports nested together, making direct fine crushing impossible. The metal shredder uses a dual-shaft shearing and tearing principle to disassemble an entire bicycle into irregular small pieces, breaking down its complex structure and removing most of the loose plastic and rubber debris, achieving material volume reduction and shaping to provide a stable feed for downstream equipment. However, the shredded material has varying particle sizes, and paint, rust, and impurities still adhere to the metal surface, making direct sorting impossible. It must undergo further processing by a metal crusher.

The scrap bicycle crusher is the core of the entire production line's purification process. Unlike the shearing and disassembly of the shredder, its core function is high-speed impact crushing and material purification. The equipment relies on the high-speed rotation of internal high-alloy hammers to repeatedly impact, grind, and beat the shredded bicycle metal pieces, crushing the material into uniform spherical metal particles. During the crushing process, it can powerfully peel off paint coatings, rust oxide, adhered plastic fragments, and rubber residues from the metal surface, thoroughly separating metal from non-metal impurities. Simultaneously, the equipment is equipped with a precision screen plate to uniformly discharge particle size, eliminating unevenly sized materials and providing standardized, high-cleanliness mixed metal raw materials for subsequent sorting processes.

Only after being refined by a metal crusher can the purified mixed metal materials enter the precision sorting stage. First, a magnetic separator uses the principle of magnetic field adsorption to precisely separate ferromagnetic metals, recycling ferrous materials such as bicycle frames and screws separately. The remaining non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum and copper, are then fed into an eddy current separator. Relying on the principle of electromagnetic induction, the eddy current repulsion completely separates the non-ferrous metals from residual inert impurities. Without the fine crushing and purification by the metal crusher, the mixed impurities and uneven particle size of the materials would directly lead to a decrease in the accuracy of magnetic separation and eddy current separation, resulting in metal mixing and low recovery rates.

In summary, the metal crusher is the core equipment in a waste bicycle recycling plant. It undertakes coarse shredding and enables fine sorting, effectively improving the purity and recovery rate of metal materials, reducing recycling losses, and is a key guarantee for the large-scale, refined, and resource-oriented recycling of waste bicycles.
